BCBSM asked our internal Design Studio to explore how our organization could bring a rewards and incentives program to market. Working with our service designers, we created a set of working conceptual prototypes based on our future-state app design and microsites, which we used to test and gather feedback from members on the experiences they most enjoyed and found valuable. We then used the research findings to create tools and guidelines for future implementation.

Realizing value from these initiatives depends on our ability to influence member and provider behavior, shaping decisions that lead to mutually beneficial outcomes for our members, providers, customers, and the business. We developed an approach that aimed to strike a balance between operational efficiency and managing abrasion at speed, thereby meeting cost-saving goals while providing an experience that members and providers can trust.
